On Sunday 1st December we performed a selection of Christmas songs in the spectacular surroundings of the 5-star Crossbasket Castle Hotel at the Ladies Lunch event raising funds for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Carol Singing At Braehead For Ronald McDonald House - Dec 2023

On Tuesday 12th December a group of us from Dynamic Meladies performed a selection of Christmas songs, at Braehead Shopping Centre, to help raise funds on behalf of Ronald McDonald House. The charity provides a free “home away from home” service, to families in need, while their child is receiving ongoing treatment in the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.

Raise The Roof Fundraising Event - Apr 2023

For the last few months we have been busy rehearsing for our latest performance, which took place last night (Saturday 22nd April) at the Glasgow Association of Spiritualists Church. This was a fundraising event for the Church, which is undergoing an extensive renovation project and we alluded to this by singing “Up On The Roof”, which raised a laugh from our audience!

Over the last seven years of Dynamic Meladies,we have had the opportunity to perform for a number of charitable organizations, often helping them with their fundraising and awareness events. Our next performance, in April, is at the Glasgow Association of Spiritualists Church. The church building has been in need of extensive renovations and we have been asked to sing for them at their next fundraising event.

Our ladies have been busy practising all of our songs over the last few weeks and the results of their efforts were there for all to hear yesterday at Braehead Shopping Centre. We were delighted to be back supporting the ROHHAD Association for their “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” fundraising event this year and to have a good crowd of people stopping to listen to our set of festive songs. We did, of course, include “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” in our set along with a selection of traditional and popular Christmas songs.

Carol Singing at Braehead for ROHHAD Association - Dec 2021

Due to the COVID restrictions, it was two years since we last performed at Braehead Shopping Centre and we were all really excited about getting to sing a selection of our Christmas songs there, on behalf of the ROHHAD Association, on Sunday 12th December 2021.

After all the hard work rehearsing, it was time to just enjoy singing through our set of songs and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

A Cappella Al Fresco!

On Saturday 7th August we held our first face-to-face Singing Session in more than 18 months. We held our Session outdoors in the garden of St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, in Milngavie, and sang through a selection of songs from our repertoire together. We were very fortunate, given the appallingly wet weather over that weekend, to have a completely dry spell while we were singing and the sun even showed up us for a little while.

5th Anniversary Celebration!

On Saturday 24th April 2021 we brought our classes together to celebrate Dynamic Meladies 5th anniversary! In March 2016 we ran our first Singing Workshops and on 23rd April 2016 we ran our very first Singing Class. Over the last five years we have run 393 Singing Classes; 27 Singing Workshops; an Absolute Beginners Course; 4 online events and our ladies have taken part in 15 performances for a variety of charitable causes.

For our final Singing Session of the year, we brought all of our classes together online on Saturday 19th December 2020 for a Christmas celebration! We got our festivities underway with a selection of traditional Christmas carols and modern festive songs including “Gaudete”, “Winter Wonderland”, “O Holy Night” and “I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas“! We all came dressed for the occasion and enjoyed some Christmas fayre during our celebrations.

Spooky Goings On!

As October 31st 2020 fell on a Saturday this year, we decided to have a Halloween-theme to our Saturday morning Singing Session! We invited everyone to dress up for the occasion and we sang a suitably spooky selection of songs including the ghostly “She Moved Through The Fair”, the witchy “Rhiannon” and “Bad Moon Rising”.

Central and West Integration Network Burns Event

On Saturday 1st February 2020, we had the opportunity to perform at a multicultural Burns celebration event being run by the Central and West Integration Network. Attendees were treated to a traditional meal of haggis and heard a recitation of a couple of Burns poems (“To A Louse” and “To A Mouse”) as well as a short history of the life of the Scottish bard.

On Wednesday 11th December 2019, Dynamic Meladies sang a selection of Christmas carols and songs at Braehead Shopping Centre in aid of Breast Cancer Now. It was lovely to share the festive spirit and we had a great time singing for Christmas shoppers. Thank you to everyone who stopped to listen and donated to help Breast Cancer Now.

Fundraiser at Gavin’s Mill

On Sunday 9th June 2019, we performed at a fundraising event for Gavin’s Mill in Milngavie. In addition to having fun singing at the event, we also got to sample the very fine scones served in the cafe!

Strawberry Tea 2019

On Saturday 8th June 2019 we took part in a Strawberry Tea event for the charity Mothers Care India. This was a return visit for us to this event, as we also performed for the charity last June. We were fortunate in finishing our set just before a heavy downpour but, as we sat down at our table in the marquee, the rain started to pour through the roof directly above us, soaking everything in sight! The heavy rain, outside and inside, led to a mass singing of (and some dancing to) Singing In The Rain!

On 12th May 2019 a group of ladies from Dynamic Meladies sang at MEAction Scotland’s #MillionsMissing awareness event in George Square, Glasgow.
